September 16th 2003. As the events of that day unfolded before our eyes on National TV we watched helplessly in shock and horror as the West Midlands Fire Brigade and several conference delegates and helpers rescued many of the machines that were accessible from the first two halls. Unfortunately, we did not see the Kirby BSA amongst the saved machines. Indeed, it had been located in hall 5 together with many other priceless racing machines right at the seat of the fire.
